(“shege” is a Hausa word which means illegitimate)
everyday I hold out my hand,
Hoping you’ll heed my prayer.
waiting for your clock to move…
amidst all the ticks and tocks
my minds stays glued to visions of what we should be…under the faithful blue sky.
and in all the moments which combine,a hammer chips at my heart which petrified under your lies and myriad of ‘issues’
I could be free if I wanted.
But for ‘shege’ premises I wait,
knowing well that one day we’ll both fade into history…. if we’re lucky,
under the same blue skies and for ‘shege’ reasons.
